The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”

In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”

The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
