A Mountain of Anime News Arrived During the Holidays
The Christmas holidays provide a wealth of pastimes considerably more enjoyable than catching up on the latest news: unwrapping gifts, feasting on holiday treats, and harnessing patience techniques to refrain from arguing with relatives. It is wished you were able to do all these things and more. That said, the world of entertainment doesn't go on vacation, and this is particularly true for the realm of anime. Numerous thrilling developments came out over the festive period, and if you missed some of them, here is a summary of the juiciest bits.
One-Punch Man Its Third Season Will Continue (By 2027)
Truly the biggest revelation, the much-discussed controversial season that was season 3 of One-Punch Man wasn't enough to deter more episodes. Season 3 will be back with a second cour in 2027—such a distant date they could have called it season 4. Adding to the surprise, the studio J.C. Staff will continue to be at the helm. On a positive note this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the outset, which might be a good sign. But, the promotional image for the new episodes is identical to the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This leads one to believe that, at this point, they are probably mocking the fans.
Ruri Dragon Is Set to Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime Produced By Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has built a standing for being an prestigious animation studio, setting itself apart not just for the exceptional quality of its productions but for the ethical practices of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Unexpectedly, until now, it had never worked on an anime stemming from a manga from Shonen Jump, possibly the best-known magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a great choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo achieved widespread acclaim when it launched in 2022 after just a few chapters, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the mangaka's health issues. When it came back with a more relaxed pace, the series demonstrated it hadn't lost the fans' support and goodwill, and now fans are ecstatic about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.
Kingdom Its Sixth Season Has a Sequel In Production
Kingdom is the top-selling, epic Shueisha manga that is aside from One Piece. If you've haven't come across it before, it's because it only fairly recently obtained an English release, but the anime has been going on for years, and season 6 was yet another excellent entry. It turns out that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been revealed as in development, and it will probably air in 2026.
Science Saru Is Adapting A Witch in Mongolia To Anime
One more studio renowned for the excellent quality of its productions, Science Saru has brought us hit shows of the caliber of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, most recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be handling the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the true story of Fatima, an influential woman and scholar in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. From the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a highly unique and intriguing visual style, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ranking of Kings. Set to premiere in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my watchlist.
The Tougen Anki Series Will Continue With a Second Season
Shortly after the airing of episode 24, it was announced that Tougen Anki will be securing a second season. Based on the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki is based on the manga by Yura Urushibara. The second season of the anime will cover the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a firm air date has not yet been announced.
